How I spent my long layover in San Francisco
I had a 14 hour layover in San Francisco and I wanted to make the most out of it. I made a list of stuff I wanted to do, things I wanted to eat and I mapped out everything so that it was super convenient. The map started out that we would go to Oakland first and then back to the island and went around in a huge circle until going back to SFO. I have been to San Francisco before, but A.V has not, so I wanted to show him all the great spots for sight seeing and eating. Upon arriving at the San Francisco airport, we headed to our rental reservation and grabbed a vehicle. We loaded all of our luggages onto the car and headed out to our first location.
Pro tip: if you pay with your Chase Sapphire card, you can opt out of the rental insurance because the rental is covered by the card. I know other cards do this as well, just research your card.
Oakland Urban Village Farmers’ Markets

The farmers’ market was very out of the way because it was all the way in Oakland but I really wanted a Porchetta sandwich from Roli Roti. When we got there, I was sooo excited only to get my hopes and dreams crushed. They weren’t selling it that day! (Insert crying emoji). Luckily, there were plenty of other food trucks there, so we just grabbed something and left.

Hog Island has one of THE BEST clam chowder I have ever tasted in my life. So naturally, I wanted A.V to try it as well. The weather was amazing, and the food was great. Luckily, the wait was not too long because we were on a time crunch. We ordered some oysters and of course, the clam chowder.
Palace of Fine Arts Theatre

The Palace of Fine Arts Theatre is beautiful and I love to see it every time I’m in San Francisco. Parking here is relatively easy to find so I highly recommend walking around the area! It’s such a relaxing environment and maybe you’ll get a glimpse of a wedding going on! <3
Golden Gate bridge
How can you go to San Francisco and not visit the iconic Golden Gate bridge?! We actually parked a little bit away from the gate and just admired it from a close ‘afar’. When we do return, maybe we’ll bike across the bridge!
Painted ladies

The Painted Ladies is a group of iconic Victorian and Edwardian style houses built between 1850 and 1915. This was my first time seeing the houses and it was actually pretty cute!
San Tung

THIS PLACE. (Insert heart eyes and drooling emojis). The wait here is normally ridiculously long but very worth it. We got here about 10 mins after it opened and there was already a 45 minutes wait. Once you sit down, you’re gonna realize that every table has an order of chicken wings, so if you didn’t order it, you’re doing something wrong.

I wanted to go here for the swing that overlooks San Francisco. Unfortunately, someone had taken down the swing, but we still got to see some pretty cool views.
House of Silvanas

My sister is obsessed with the silvanas from here, so of course, we had to go here and get some to bring home for her. A silvana is a Filipino dessert. It’s a frozen buttercream between two cashew wafers. I’ve been told that they look like crabby patties, but I think they taste like heaven.
Amami Sushi

This place has one of the best omakase I’ve ever eaten. The best part was that it was cheap! I was kind of bummed that we only got one and shared because we were so full from eating all day. I can’t wait to go back here next time I’m in SF.
Eggets

Eggets was on the list of places to go because they had Hong Kong egg waffles. This was before Houston started having them as well. They also have a Hong Kong rice roll snack that is dressed with hoisin and peanut butter.
Honey Berry
Finally, our last stop. By the time we got here, we actually still had an hour to kill before we had to head to the airport, so I’d say we made good on time. They have roti buns here and it’s perfect for dessert. Roti buns are crispy on the outside and light and fluffy on the inside.
